Hindus for Human Rights

United States

MISSION, VISION & VALUES

Hindus for Human Rights (HfHR) is a U.S.-based advocacy organization that is committed to the ideals of multi-religious pluralism in the United States, South Asia, and beyond. We speak from a Hindu perspective for shanti (peace), nyaya (justice) and the manavtha (human rights) of all communities.

We advocate for pluralism, civil and human rights in South Asia and North America, rooted in the values of our faith: shanti (peace), nyaya (justice) and satya (truth). We provide a Hindu voice of resistance to caste, Hindutva, racism, and all forms of bigotry and oppression.

Our vision is a world defined by lokasangraha (the universal common good) — where there is peace among all people, and our planet is honored and protected.

Our values:

1) INCLUSIVE HINDUISM

We support an egalitarian and inclusive Hinduism. We are committed to the dissolution of the historical oppressive structure of caste, and to the right to equality of Dalits, Bahujans, and Adivasis.

2) INQUIRY AS ADVOCACY

We prioritize dialogue as a means of understanding and community-building, and advocacy as our path to action.

3) FEARLESSNESS AND TRUTH-TELLING

We seek information about current affairs from trusted sources on the ground and share fact-based information on our platforms.

4) CONSTANT CREATION AND REPLENISHMENT

Through our work together, we honor the humanity of each other and everyone we connect with. We suggest and participate in creative solutions to the problems and injustices we perceive in the world.
