Burmese Rohingya Organization UK (BROUK)
London, United Kingdom
The Burmese Rohingya Organisation UK (BROUK) is based in London, United Kingdom, and was established in 2005 by diaspora Rohingya. The organisation works to highlight the plight of Rohingya internationally and to support the Rohingya community both inside Myanmar and in other countries.
We conduct research, monitor the human rights situation in Myanmar through an extensive network of contacts, and highlight ongoing violations against Rohingya through international media and high-level meetings, and advocate for change. We have talked in Parliaments around the world and met many political leaders, pushing for bigger support for Rohingya and for protection of Rohingya human rights.
We provide a vital voice for the Rohingya people through our work with the community inside Myanmar, as well as the wider diaspora. We are committed to training the next generation of Rohingya leaders through interaction and capacity building with Rohingya youth. We have provided humanitarian support to Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.
We are working for justice and accountability for the ongoing genocide against Rohingya in Myanmar. In November 2019, we filed a petition in Argentina for a universal jurisdiction case against Myanmar military and civilian government for crimes against humanity and genocide against the Rohingya. This is the first Universal Jurisdiction case regarding the Rohingya genocide anywhere in the world.
