2023 PRESS STATEMENT MR. KHALID SHOT AND INJURED BY UNKNOWN PERSON IN KADOGLI, SUDAN
On 28th November 2023, unidentified person shot and injured Mr. Khalid Abdel-Aziz while at his home in Kadogli. The reason for shooting is unknown. Mr. Khaled was rushed to the Kadugli Hospital. The case was reported to police, but the police did not visit the crime scene or conducted investigation. On 28th November 2023, at 2:00 am, unknown person entered the house of Mr. Khalid Abdel-Aziz in Kalimo neighborhood of Kadogli town. When Mr. Khalid heard the movements inside his house, he tried to find out and he was subsequently shot by an unknown person for unknown reasons. The main injury is on his upper jaw among other facial injuries. He was taken to Kadogli Hospital for medical attention. This case was reported at the Kadogli central police, but the police did not visit the crime scene or conducted investigations. An activist from Kadogli spoke to the HUDO Centre saying that: “Incidents of shooting civilians at night have been repeated despite the announcement of a night curfew (from 6:00 pm up to 6:00 am) which has been in effect since April 2023. The civilians are worried because of Police’s failure to arrest the perpetrators”.
Mr. Khaled Abdel-Aziz (42 years) is married and self-employed. Kalimo neighborhood is within the city of Kadogli, the capital of South Kordofan State/Nuba Mountains.
