You are cordially invited to join us for a Know Your Rights and Advocacy Training that will empower social justice activists to fight for positive change. The training will be held online, and will occur this Friday, May 1st at 12:00-2:00pm. This training is organized by Darfur Women Action Group (DWAG) and Rising for Justice (RFJ) to empower and educate members of the local DC community to become effective advocates. This training is specifically targeted to social justice and human rights activists in the Greater Washington DC community including individuals in the African diaspora and the broader immigrant community and all others who can benefit from this training.

The session will include a presentation and interactive discussion on Knowing Your Rights including Civil Rights, Human Rights and Tenants Rights with practical tips on navigating emerging issues including housing challenges, especially eviction. Participants will learn more about their rights in all the above listed aspects of their rights while having the opportunity to ask the experts about the eviction process, tenant rights, and what to do if they receive notices from landlords, the court, or the US Marshals. The session will also include a training workshop to learn the meaning of advocacy, its importance, the methods with which advocacy can be done effectively, and how to advocate for policy changes affecting communities.

At DWAG and RFJ, we are committed to supporting historically marginalized communities in DC to advocate for the issues that matter most and to drive equitable, meaningful change. If you are an activist from DC’s diverse and underserved communities, this training is for you.

Please join us and bring a friend with you.
