On the night of April 14, 2014, 276 girls were abducted from the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Northeastern Nigeria. Fifty-seven girls managed to escape immediately, but 82 remain captive. Over the past decade, numerous attempts to free them have failed. We pray for the safe return of these 82 girls, kidnapped 10 years ago. |

Father Paul Khwi Shane Aung, a Myanmar priest, was shot during Mass in Kachin amid ongoing clashes between the military and resistance forces. The attack occurred at St. Patrick’s Church in Mohnyin, and Aung was hospitalized first in Mohnyin, then Myitkyina. The motive is unclear, the attackers remain at large, and Aung, ordained in 2013, is listed as a Mohnyin Zone priest on the Myitkyina Catholic Diocese's website. Australian Bishop and Priest Stabbed During Services |
A teenager in Sydney in a disturbing knife attack at a church service, that injured a bishop and a priest. Marking the second similar occurrence in recent history, this incident has understandably caused unease within the community. Community leaders have been proactive in advocating for calm, with the impacted church strongly advising against any acts of reprisal. The 16-year-old accused was promptly restrained by attendees of Christ the Good Shepherd Church, following his assault on Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel and Rev. Isaac Royel during a Monday night service.
