NEW PEACE RECOGNITION

PCRC was awarded a special recognition by the University of Tetova and their Center for Peace and Transcultural Communication for organizations that have high impact in the public sphere and have contributed to building and fostering peace. Thank you!

DEALING WITH THE PAST FOR A BETTER FUTURE

PCRC's work in peacebuilding, education and conflict prevention was recently mentioned in the latest regional report by Dunja Mijatović, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights. Our Ordinary Heroes peacebuilding program was highlighted as a good creative storytelling strategy, while our work within the Western Balkans Coalition for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Crimes Prevention was mentioned as an important civil society initiative with a regional focus on reparation and reparative strategies.

REGIONAL COLLABORATION

This month we joined the regional conference ''Peace and Prosperity in the Western Balkans'' organized by SMART Balkans in Skopje. PCRC has been awarded this years' Smart Balkans core grant and the conference was a great opportunity to meet the team and other grantees for 2024!

VISITS & MEETINGS

In December, we took part in several meetings and events, in Bosnia and abroad. We met with youth from the Humanity in Action's program Encouraging Democratic Values and Active Citizenship among Youth and introduced them to our work and specifically our peace-building program Ordinary Heroes. Our President Velma Šarić spoke at a regional webinar organized by the Forum for sustainable development and the Green European Foundation to discuss the various positions of the Greens in the context of peace and security that are currently present at the European level. Finally, our Program Manager Amina Sejfić attended the fifth international meeting organized by Site-mémorial du Camp des Milles in France to address the urgent need for innovative practices and immediate action in stopping and preventing atrocities across the world.
