PREVENTION AGENDA: WESTERN BALKANS

As part of the Western Balkans Coalition for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Crimes Prevention (CGMAP), Post-Conflict Research Center (PCRC) and Impunity Watch organized a regional civil society conference „Building a Common Agenda for Prevention in the Western Balkans“ on March 21 in Podgorica, Montenegro. Over the course of four panel sessions and several keynote speeches esteemed civil society representatives will convene to share their invaluable insights on prevention strategies, victims' rights, peace education, and navigating the challenges of dealing with the past in the digital age. Conference was followed by a closed civil society meeting with members and friends of CGMAP.


MEMENTO: PODGORICA OPENING

MEMENTO: Fragments of the Srebrenica Genocide is a multimedia educational project containing real-life stories and portraits of Srebrenica Genocide survivors and victims’ families detailing their life and their fight to survive during the genocide. This April, Memento photography exhibition opened in Podgorica together with the Association Mothers of the Enclaves of Srebrenica and Žepa.


INTER-RELIGIOUS DIALOGUE

As part of the Inter-religious Dialogue Committee at the Srebrenica Memorial Center, PCRC visited Banja Luka and Prijedor alongside representatives of religious institutions, civil society organizations, and the mothers of Srebrenica. During our visit, we toured the Banja Luka Bishopric, Ferhat-pasha Mosque, Prijedor's Čaršija Mosque, Prijedor Parish, the monument to Rev. Mr. Tomislav Matanović, and the monument to the victims of the Keraterm Camp. Additionally, we took part in SMC's conference "Collaboration for Truth, Dialogue, and Future".


32 YEARS LATER: SARAJEVO SIEGE

This April marks 32 years since the beginning of Sarajevo Siege. Sarajevo Memorial Center, City of Sarajevo, and PCRC opened on April 4 the official commemoration program with an art exhibition "1425" by painter Galib Lihić, and a film premiere of our documentary movie ''Children of Sarajevo'' (produced by PCRC, Pinch Media & Sarajevo Memorial Center). The program continued on April 5 with a set of events across Sarajevo with the Path of Remembrance - an artistic and inclusive memorial program produced by Sarajevo Memorial Center and thousands of Sarajevans.


FANATICISM IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

PCRC's Tatjana Milovanović recently contributed an article to a new book published by the Institute of Philosophy in Zagreb and edited by Martino Rossi Monti. The volume aims to help readers navigate some of the issues that radicalize people today and to chart their intricate historical roots.
